Not only do you need your home to look good when a potential buyer comes to look at it, you also need to make sure that it smells good. The smell of your home can be a deciding factor when it comes to the purchase of your home.  Bad odors in your home, may swayed away potential buyers from purchasing your home.  It will be important for you to make sure that you eliminate odors from your home appliances, clothing, pets, smoke, mold, and cooked food.  As a homeowner, you should immediately address the cause of the smells and take action to rectify the situation.

Making sure that your home is clean is more important than trying to mask the smell. If you put out a bunch of scented candles or plug-ins, a potential buyer might think you are trying to cover up a smell or you might also run the risk of the potential buyer not liking the scent.  Often times, the fragrance may be so overwhelming that it distracts the potential buyer from being able to make a decision on whether or not they want to purchase the home.

Before your home hits the market, the very first thing you want to do is clean the entire home from top to bottom.   It is important to make sure that you clean every nook and cranny to make sure that there are no surprises anywhere.  If cleaning is not your thing, you can hire a professional cleaning company or getting the whole family involved in getting the house ready to sell.  Cleaning the house helps with the overall smell of the home.

While you are cleaning your home, it is important that you use simple fragrances.  It is important to use only one fragrance so that you don’t create unpleasant or overpowering combination of smells.  Using a cleaner with an essential oil not only helps to clean your home but will also help with the smell.
