If you love the outdoors, Golden is home to many beautiful hikes that are great for all levels.  Whether you are considering a family-friendly stroll or a more technical, heart-pumping hike, Golden has plenty of options for you.  Even better is that you can hike any time of the year. Springtime brings lots of sunshine and lush greenery.  Followed by an abundance of wildflowers in the summertime.  Autumn ushers in the vibrant colors of the aspen leaves.  When the snow starts to fall, Golden offers over 8,000 acres of open space to enjoy the stillness and beautiful of winter.  With close to a hundred trails, you will not have to go very far from Denver to enjoy the spectacular Rocky Mountains.  Here are a few of my favorite hikes in Golden

Mount Galbraith

One of my favorite hikes is the Mount Galbraith Loop via Cedar Loop Trail.  Located up Golden Gate Canyon Road you will find Mount Galbraith Park.  This is a popular trail which speaks to the quality of the trail.  The 4-mile moderate loop climbs sharply toward the 7,260’ summit, eventually looping you around Mount Galbraith and down the way you came. Along the way, you’ll bear witness to awe-inspiring views of the canyon as well as the skyline of Denver.  This trail used for hiking and running.  This trail is best enjoyed between May and November.  You can also bring your dog along on their leash as you enjoy this rocky and forested terrain.

Clear Creek Trail

If you are looking for more of a stroll and want to experience Golden, walking the Clear Creek Trail is a must!  This flat, paved, creek-side trail is a landmark in Golden. The trail provides access to Clear Creek for swimming, tubing, fly fishing, kayaking and endless summer fun.   If you want to take advantage of a 20-mile trail, this extends all the way to DenverGolden local residents mostly enjoy the loop from Washington Street into the foothills where the trail turns into a gravel path and continues up Clear Creek Canyon for nearly a mile.
